The Dark Passenger

Why is it so hard to be yourself,
What is it so dark you want to hide,
A lie is always easier to tell,
But how long will this mask suffice.

Your secret ways to get back at life,
That secret place behind those eyes.

We all feel that urge
The darkness inside, wants to flee.
Some pretend they didn't do it,
Others pretend they didn't see.

From our head to toe, we look different though

We all share the same load,
Our desires walk the same road,
Our fears and fantasies walk hand in hand,

then why do we hide, I don't understand.

The struggle between black and white,

The darkness and the light.
You don't have to pick a side,
But carefully choose your fight.

No one's all Jekyll; no one's all Hyde
The dark passenger walks beside.
